The Artist

As a child, my parents introduced me to various foreign cultures through the exchange students we hosted from Lewis & Clark College. I was fascinated by their stories. As an adult, I have been privileged to visit many countries and experience, photograph and write about the people and landscapes for prestigious publications. The lure to travel is like a siren call to me! 

Never one to take the most tried and true path, I choose the most interesting but often the riskiest avenue to express my creative talents. Taking a leap of faith from corporate marketing for architecture and engineering firms in 2002 to photography was the most challenging business I’ve undertaken. But the rewards have been exciting and fulfilling!! 

Selected as Travel Photographer of the Year by Professional Photographers Association as well as Travel Writers Association, my images decorate the walls of hotels, restaurants and doctor’s offices throughout the United States. Several art buyers and stock agencies represent my work. I’m also a published author of three sold out books and numerous articles in national and international publications. (go to Publications)

My travel wings were clipped two years ago when Covid hit. No longer was it safe to travel. I decided to concentrate on being the best bird photographer. Check out my bird gallery and see for yourself! (go to Birds)

Former corporate marketer, author and seminar instructor for architecture and engineering firms for over 20 years. Graduate of Oregon State University with graduate courses in marketing and business. Active member of Professional Photographers of America, Colonial Dames XVII, Daughters of the American Revolution, New England Historical Genealogical Society, The Wingfield Society and Clan Guthrie.
